QoL: Copy scene coordinates to clipboard and paste them directly into events #9183
Is your feature request related to a problem? Please describe.
When developing games in GDevelop, working with coordinates is essential. However, a problem arises when you need to move an object to specific coordinates: you have to memorize the values and keep them in mind until you locate the relevant action—such as setting or modifying coordinates—and input the numbers. From a usability standpoint, this is a major drawback of the engine; developers shouldn't be forced to memorize numbers. Memory can easily distort them, leading to bugs that require troubleshooting, or a coordinate might end up negative instead of positive—errors are guaranteed to occur sooner or later.
Solution suggested
I propose a solution: implementing a feature where pressing the key combination SHIFT+W copies the coordinates (X and Y) of the cursor's location—or the coordinates of the object under the cursor—to the clipboard or the program's memory. These could then be pasted as an action within the event list. This would trigger a menu allowing the user to select the specific action to apply the copied coordinates to—for example, "change position of object NewSprite" or "change object position on the X-axis" (in which case only the X value would be inserted).
This issue is one of the factors that make the engine feel "unprofessional" and highly inconvenient to use. If the developers address this problem, GDevelop will take a significant step forward. I am eager to help the engine become as user-friendly, functional, and widely recognized as it deserves to be, but achieving this requires taking concrete steps.
!The SHIFT+W key combination is already assigned to another action in the 3D view. SHIFT+W was suggested as a possible option; the developers will need to create a different key combination, such as CTRL+SHIFT+C.
