If there is no CORS proxy set up, a git network command will fail with something like this:

This is factually correct but pretty useless for an end user. We need to translate such errors into something more useful.

    This really relates to propagation of errors that occur at the JavaScript level back to the C/C++ level in the WebAssembly build.
