Is it possible to complete the brackets and other symbols mentioned in the title and It would be cool to have the cursor placed between them after completing the pair.
(edit: I got confused) Go ahead and give it a go! We haven't been assigning folks for issues except on the core team, but feel free to post an early PR.
@thomasballinger i will try to make it as close as possible to commonly used IDEs behavior (as you mentioned in your original message). also, should i also incorporate this as a config option, or let this (bracket/quote completion) be the default behavior for now?
I don't think we should make it the default behavior unless it works well for people who aren't used to the behavior, so before this gets in we'd need to add a config option. That part will be easy though, I wouldn't worry about it for now.
@thomasballinger i am finishing this feature up. i made it so it works just like we are used to from conventional IDEs. should i include an argument for turning this feature on/off for now?
That's great, feel free to make an unfinished PR for feedback. I think this should have a config file way to toggle it (press F3 in bpython to view/create a config file). See config.py for this code.
